Flor Romero is the Associate Director of Career Pathway Connections where she supports the Strong Workforce grant to strengthen career pathways for youth across SLATE-Z schools in South LA.
Prior to LA Promise Fund, Romero worked in marketing and advertising where she managed campaigns across the state dedicated to underserved populations. Her professional background has been dedicated to serving youth in the greater Los Angeles area including service with Jumpstart, Kidsave International, and USC Athletics, where she led a successful literacy program across LAUSD for elementary school students.
Romero earned her B.A. in Psychology from UCLA and her Master of Social Work degree from USC with a focus on Social Change & Innovation. In late 2021, Romero was nominated by President Biden to serve on the AmeriCorps Board of Directors. Romero’s passion for educational equity permeates into her life outside of work as she mentors first-generation college students.
One of Romero’s favorite books of all time is The Little Prince, which she has read in 3 languages. In her spare time, she enjoys being outdoors, going to Dodger games, and eating ice cream.
