Go for College

All students should be prepared for and informed to make a strong and personal choice about pursuing higher education. Go for College exposes students at our Partner and Charter Schools to an array of two- and four-year, public and private colleges and universities. The LA Promise Fund college professionals work daily with each campus’ college counselor to navigate students through the college research and selection process, preparing them to meet the requirement of applying to at least one college or university before graduation. From college trips for every 9th grader to college counselor training for teachers to dual enrollment classes with middle and high school students taking community college classes, Go for College creates a school-wide culture where college prep is the norm and every student has equal access to higher education. Through events such as an annual college fair and the incorporation of student College Ambassadors, students and families receive the necessary support to complete the college admission and financial aid process.

Promise Parents

Promise Parents

The LA Promise Fund believes that parents, guardians, caretakers and families are key partners in achieving a school vision. Because of the importance of parent engagement in each student’s success, the LA Promise Fund staffs each campus with a Community/Parent representative who works out of a full service Parent and Family Center.  This Parent Representative, often a community member or parent themselves, ensures that the Parent Center is a vibrant and welcoming location and a key part of the school’s culture. With ongoing parent education, volunteer, leadership and advocacy opportunities and ongoing parent communication, the LA Promise Fund partners with school leadership and staff and works with parents to overcome barriers to school involvement, academic achievement and family engagement.
