LA Chargers Wide Receiver Quentin Johnston Represents LA Promise Fund for “My Cause My Cleats” Initiative

This season, LA Chargers wide receiver Quentin Johnston selected LA Promise Fund as his nonprofit partner for the NFL’s My Cause My Cleats initiative, using his platform to spotlight the importance of education, opportunity, and support for students and families across Los Angeles.

“LA Promise Fund’s commitment to empowering young people through education and mentorship aligns with my values,” said Johnston. “Their work strengthens entire communities by giving students the tools, resources, and encouragement they need to succeed. Being part of My Cause My Cleats gave me a way to support that mission in a meaningful way.”

My Cause My Cleats is a player-led NFL program that allows athletes to wear custom-designed cleats during games to raise awareness for causes they care about most. For Johnston, that cause was LA Promise Fund and its mission to provide students with academic and enrichment opportunities that spark passion, empower leadership, and prepare them for college and career success.

LA Promise Fund and Johnston have an established history of partnership, including collaborating on the inaugural Westbrook Academy Wildcat Girls Flag Football Tournament held at East Los Angeles College. The event recognized women’s flag football’s newly achieved NCAA status as a collegiate sport and celebrated the growing opportunities for young women in athletics. Westbrook Academy is a 6th-12th charter school in South Gate, Los Angeles managed and operated by LA Promise Fund that focuses on providing outstanding public education.

Johnston’s cleats were custom-designed to reflect the values that guide LA Promise Fund’s work. Following their debut during the Chargers’ game against the Raiders, the cleats were made available for auction, with 100% of the proceeds supporting LA Promise Fund programs that serve students and families across Los Angeles County.

Fans can still place bids on the custom cleats through February 12, 2025, supporting LA Promise Fund and Westbrook Academy.

The partnership showcases how purpose-driven athletes and community-based organizations can collaborate to create lasting opportunities for students at Westbrook Academy and throughout Los Angeles.
