Jesse Hernandez serves as the College Success Coordinator at the LA Promise Fund. He assists the college team with the design and strategy of a new program to support graduates from LA Promise Fund schools through college. Hernandez also works with the college access team to develop an engagement strategy to re-connect with 2018 graduates, as well as build relationships with 2019 graduates to ensure they receive ongoing services through the duration of the academic year.

Prior to his role with the LA Promise Fund, Hernandez worked as an assistant learning specialist with USC Athletics. Additionally, he was an advisor to high school students at Manual Arts High School and Downtown Magnet High School. Hernandez graduated from UCLA in 2015 with a major in Political Science and a minor in Education. He is currently a graduate student at USC and will be graduating in May 2019.

Hernandez’s all-time favorite books are A Walk in the Woods and The Autobiography of Malcolm X by Alex Haley.  Hernandez likes traveling, hiking and going to the beach. He decided to go into education because he believes that every student deserves the best education this country has to offer. The LA Promise Fund aligns with his vision of helping students achieve this goal and go above and beyond.
