Jacqueline Turner joined the LA Promise Fund in October of 2014. She helps manage the Aspire to Achieve Mentoring Program sponsored by FOX at Manual Arts and Dorsey High School. She also provides LA Promise Fund schools with various Mentorships and Internships opportunities.
Turner received her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where she was heavily involved in student-initiated African American and Latino outreach and retention programs to help close the diversity gap at UCSC. She later began working at the University of Southern California TRiO Upward Bound program for 3 ½ years, where she served as an Academic Advisor. She has experience in advising students at Washington Prep, Manual Arts, Crenshaw and Dorsey High School.
Turner has a passion for traveling and studied Spanish at the Universidad de Cordoba. She completed her Psychological field study in Costa Rica, where she received training in child guidance, community assessment, service project, and project implementation at a barrio and nearby orphanage.
Turner’s favorite books are Tuesday with Morrie, The Wondrous World of Oscar Wao, The Alchemist, and Assata Shakur: An Autobiography.
