03 Feb Girls (Re)Build Together: Taking Action After the LA Fires
On behalf of the entire LA Promise Fund Team, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your incredible generosity and support during a time of need. Together, we turned compassion into action, providing resources to support impacted teachers, GirlsBuild coordinators, and students attending La Cañada High School, John Marshall Fundamental Secondary High School, Pasadena High School, Sylmar Biotech Health & Engineering Magnet and Sylmar Charter High School a network of more than 9,000 students.
We are also thrilled to share that JuJu Watkins, USC’s basketball star, joined our efforts by donating items including backpacks, beauty products, clothing, and more. The supplies were given to young female athletes who lost their homes: a girls’ soccer team in Altadena where unfortunately, the majority of them lost their homes, and Palisades Charter High School girls’ basketball and soccer teams who were also devastated by the flames.

Her contribution, alongside yours, has inspired hope and uplifted spirits in this challenging time. We will continue to be a resource to our GirlsBuild teams and their communities. If you are interested in other ways to give or volunteer, please visit the GirlsBuild website.
Outside of GirlsBuild, the LAPF team also teamed up with Chick-fil-A, Inc. and our many other partners to support feeding our first responders from LA City Fire, Palisades Fire Command Post, and Fire Station 87.

After working around the clock, we were so happy to provide them with nourishment and a smile for their day. The warm meals and the show of community support brought relief and a much-needed break from their intense duties.
Thank you for your incredible support over the past month as we came together to assist families impacted by the LA fires.
