Cynthia Maravilla

Associate Director of College Success

Cynthia works directly with the LA Promise Fund’s school college counselors to promote a college-going culture and ensure that more South LA students are motivated and prepared.

Maravilla joins LAPF with a decade of experience as a K-12 educator and higher ed professional.  Starting as a high school teacher, her career developed into the field of college outreach working for the Early Academic Outreach Program at UCLA, the Early Assessment Program Coordinator at CSU Long Beach, and as the Southern California Regional Counselor for CA State East Bay.  She has worked extensively with 1st-gen/low-income students throughout LAUSD high schools promoting college and career readiness.

As a proud UCLA History alum and recently obtained her M.S. in College Counselling from CSU Dominguez Hills.  Maravilla is passionate about serving students in high-need schools and empowering communities.  She loves travelling to new and exotic places, spending time with friends and family, and getting her hands on a good book.  Her favorite books include: When Everything Changed, by Gail Collins, Night by Elie Wiesel and the Harry Potter series.
