13 Mar Celebrating the CPC Cohort at Westbrook Academy
By: Jorge Flores, Associate Director of Career Pathway Connections
The CPC student cohort at Westbrook Academy is closing out the 2025–2026 school year with something worth celebrating: career readiness.
Throughout the CPC program, students focused on the career-building skills that matter most when applying for opportunities. They learned how to create a strong resume that clearly shows their strengths, even if they’re still building work experience. From there, they practiced writing cover letters that connect their interests to the opportunity at hand, helping them communicate not just what they want, but why they’re a good fit.
As students built their application materials, they also strengthened their professional presence online. Creating a LinkedIn profile helped them begin shaping their story in a public, professional space that they can continue to improve as they gain more experience. At the same time, they participated in mock interviews, which gave them a chance to practice speaking confidently about themselves, answering questions with clarity, and presenting their skills in a real interview setting.
All of that effort led to a major milestone: students earned the CPC Credly Badge. This badge is more than a certificate; it’s a signal that students completed meaningful career preparation and met a standard they can be proud of. Instead of simply saying they’re ready, they now have something they can point to that shows they’ve built the tools, habits, and confidence needed to pursue professional opportunities.

This success also reflects the teamwork behind the scenes. With the guidance of their teacher, Mrs. Kent, and the consistent support of the CPC Team, students stayed on track, accepted feedback, and continued to improve. That combination creates the kind of environment where growth becomes normal, and progress becomes visible.
Now, with these skills and their Credly Badge in hand, this CPC Westbrook Academy cohort is ready for the next step: applying to The Intern Project (TIP) Summer 2026. They’ve already practiced the exact skills internships require, and they’re positioned to turn preparation into real work experience. This moment isn’t the finish line; it’s the launch point into opportunities that can shape their future.
With that said, if you know a 10th–12th-grade high school student living in LA County who wants paid work experience, we invite them to apply to The Intern Project Summer 2026. The Intern Project provides students with the opportunity to work with top companies in LA County while obtaining professional development training and coaching. The deadline to apply is March 15th!
