08 Dec Russell Westbrook Celebrates the Holidays by Giving Back to Westbrook Academy Students
Russell Westbrook joined more than 360 Westbrook Academy students to celebrate the holidays after completing a rigorous fall semester. In addition to receiving a pair of shoes personally from Westbrook, students saw see their campus transformed into a Winter Wonderland, including a holiday themed photo booth, hot chocolate station, and a special dunking station from the HoopBus.
“To me, the holidays are about giving. God has blessed me with an unbelievable platform to be able to give back to people, especially the youth,” said Westbrook. “It’s always been important to give back to kids who need it the most and I’m grateful to celebrate the holidays with students at Westbrook Academy.”
In 2021, Russell Westbrook, along with his wife, Nina, and longtime business partner, Donnell Beverly, partnered with LA Promise Fund to launch the Westbrook Middle and High Schools, known collectively as Westbrook Academy, to ensure students in South and Southeast Los Angeles have access to a strong education, leadership development opportunities and high-quality athletic programs. Westbrook and Beverly also sit on the board to help oversee school developments.
