2024–2025 End-of-Year Recap: LAUSD Work Readiness Program

By Sr. Manager of Career Pathway Connections, Jorge Flores

As the 2024–2025 school year comes to an end, Career Pathway Connections is proud to reflect on our successful first year of implementing the LAUSD Work Readiness Program across our partner schools. This program has served over 1,000 students in gaining essential career readiness training and internship opportunities, laying a strong foundation for their future success.

About the LAUSD Work Readiness Program

The LAUSD Work Readiness Program is designed to equip students with the skills and experiences necessary to obtain internships and employment opportunities both within the District and throughout Los Angeles County. At Career Pathway Connections, we work closely with LAUSD to certify as many students as possible and collaborate with educators and administrators to ensure each student feels confident and prepared to enter the workforce.

Two-Phase Certification: Building Career-Ready Skills

The program consists of two certification phases:

• Work Readiness Certificate: Awarded to students who complete three core artifacts:
My Support Network, Resume, and Cover Letter.

• Work Ready Badge: Earned after achieving the Certificate and completing three additional artifacts:
Job Application, Mock Interview, and Financial Literacy.

These six components not only serve as verifiable credentials for students’ resumes and job applications but also offer valuable practice in writing, networking, and public speaking — key skills for any career path.

Impact by the Numbers

During the 2024–2025 school year, we offered 70 career-readiness events across our school network, including:

• Resume-building and cover letter workshops
• Interview preparation and job application sessions
• 9 mock interview events held on school campuses
• 2 financial literacy workshops in partnership with Intuit

As a result, 1,150 students participated in the program, with:

• 719 students earning the Work Readiness Certificate
• 376 students achieving the Work Ready Badge

This milestone marks a strong start to our implementation and showcases the dedication of students, teachers, and school communities to preparing the next generation of professionals.

We are inspired by the enthusiasm and hard work of our certified students and are committed to expanding our impact in the years ahead. Career Pathway Connections looks forward to continuing our collaboration with LAUSD to empower more students with the tools and confidence to pursue their academic and professional goals.
