Our Story
When LA Promise Fund launched two decades ago, it began with a single focus: improving outcomes for students in some of Los Angeles’ most underserved neighborhoods.
Twenty years later, the organization operates six programs and a charter school, and has served more than one million students, families, and educators across LA County. Our work spans arts education, science, workforce preparation, and family engagement.
LAPF also runs Westbrook Academy — a charter middle and high school developed in partnership with NBA All-Star Russell Westbrook — designed for developing artists, athletes, and academic achievers in South and Southeast Los Angeles.
Our twentieth anniversary comes at a critical moment for education nonprofits. LAPF has not been immune to the pressures of shifting funding and post-pandemic learning gaps, but we have continued to expand our programming footprint across the county.
