Chief Program Officer
Sam Gelinas oversees the services that the LA Promise Fund delivers across school sites, as well as the countywide initiatives. Gelinas joined the LA Promise Fund from the LA Fund for Public Education, where he helped develop and implement a diverse portfolio of programs for public school students in LA County.
Prior to the LA Fund, Gelinas worked at the California Charter Schools Association, where he helped open new, high-performing charter schools in Los Angeles. He began his career as a special education teacher in Washington, DC. Gelinas received a BA in Sociology and Psychology from Pitzer College. He also holds a Master of Arts in Education from the George Washington University, and a Master of Public Policy from the University of Southern California. He is a board member for College Access Plan, a college readiness organization serving Pasadena, California.
Gelinas is motivated by the understanding that education is a right for all people, and is the foundation for healthy, productive communities. He loves reading, movies, and Seattle sports.
